The 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Brett Downey Safety Foundation 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success. The tournament was sold out with 165 golfers. Amongst those golfers were a host of our sports finiest: Chad Reed, Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Emig, Grant Langston, Michael Byrne, Andrew Short, Nathan Ramsey and many more. The golfers were treated to 18 rounds of golf at the pristine Menifee Lakes Country Club. After golf, the players sat down for a BBQ-style dinner. During dinner the awards were announced for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams, the longest drive and the closest to the pin. Coming in first place was the team of Jeremy McGrath, Buddy Antunez, Larry Brooks and Rickie Fowler. Second place went to Tim Shea, Clay King, Tim Santibeniz and Brent McDonald. Third place went to Danny Licciardi, Brett Batteoton, Brandon Marjo and Greg Smith. The longest drive award went to Corey Kiesel, and the closest to the pin award went to Jason Domann.

After the awards ceremony, we began a spectacular raffle and live auction which included hundreds of gifts including, a CRF50 from Escondido Cycle Center with Bigminis.com aftermarket parts, a LCD Television, a rare painting by the world-renowned artist Bill Dixon, and a year supply of Monster Energy Drink, just to name a few. Nearly every person that attended won a prize. Immediately after the event, the buzz was already swirling concerning The 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The Foundation has already made arrangements with Menifee Lakes Country Club to hopefully occupy both courses next year. This will enable more golfers to participate since this year's event sold out so quickly.
